Basically, you want a couple things...
1) You need something that actually works (and that's safe, obviously)
2) You need to deal with a company that's reliable and trusted to make sure you're getting the real deal, and that you're going with someone you can trust to safeguard your important files and data

Carbonite is a popular choice because of the reputation of the company, because it's a quality product (I personally used it until I switched to a Mac -- you should too, by the way -- and started using the built-in Time Machine backup), and because they give you a free trial to to evaluate how it works for you. KeepIt is another popular choice, and it's definitely worth a try since they also offer a free trial (hint, hint -- no reason you can't try both and double the free stuff!).
